  Are you at peace with God?

  by telling us that we shall be destroyed at armageddon, and that we live a life that god doesn't approve of, the jw's are trying to make us believe that we are at odds with god.. were they successful?

  I now see the true nature of the universe as GOD and what it does is what we are doing and so there is no reason

  to judge myself or anyone else by a fantasy ideal and find us lacking.... reality is just what it is...and until you compare it to something it is not, it is perfect.

  grasping the perfection of each moment is not always easy as my mind believes that reality should be something it is not, many times.

  but it is said, it is always easier to ride the horse when it is going where you want it to (^_^)

  How do JW know they have the Truth?

  breif background: i am an ex mormon.

  that church preaches that through powerful feelings sent by god, one can know the truth of the book of mormon.

  highly reliable, right?

  1. the bible is the final say [except when the governing body deems otherwise]

  2. the governing body by means of God's Direction via the holy spirit determines what the bible's final say means.[by 2/3rd vote]

  3. disagreement with the governing body means disloyalty to God. [unless you are on the governing body]

  4. The governing body is not inspired and so can and does make mistakes [but you can't]

  5. your catching those mistakes is an act of insubordination and treason. [unless you are a JW lawyer]

  6. independent thinking is of Satan. [unless you are of the governing body, then it is your job]

  7. Waiting on Jehovah to fix things is loyalty [unless of course you are a non-JW, then it is dis-loyalty to Jehovah]

  JWs work with IF THEN set up questions base in pure binary logic.... there are only two possibilities for all of their questions...and since they are the ones which fit the RIGHT possibility in all cases they present, naturally they MUST be the right religion...there is no other option!

  and it is easy to fall into this binary thinking of theirs because many have been trained by prior religions to think in black and white terms and JWs get most of their converts from already believing people, they dont do well in new territories that no one else, christian has made inroads.

  it started to be a reform website and was one of the first sites i dared to register.

  If the New Testament included only the Gospels.....

  .... what would christianity be like today had the rest of the nt been rejected or turned into apocrypha?

  was christ's teaching enough to give momentum to this religion beyond the first christians?

  or did christ's teaching need augmenting with pauline doctrines?

  But I agree that Paul's "conversion" (whatever its real motivation) is hardly a starting point either because Hellenistic Christian churches predate him.

  what actual evidence is there that any "christians" predated Paul.... they were not called christians until AFTER Paul in "Antioch" by the bibles own accounts and Antioch was a center of Pauls missions.

  prior there were lots of Jewish apocolyptic sects, but no christians.

  as to the nature of Paul's hallucination, spectrum, you are talking as if we really understand how ALL of them work, and I doubt that is even close to the case. Paul was not persecuting christians as no such thing existed at that time yet....not by that name, but he was persecuting people of THE WAY which may have been an apocolyptic sect in the deserts and he was working for the HIGH preist, which in that time meant he was a traitor to the Pharisees who saw the High priest as a nearly godless traitor and sell out to the Romans. his guilt over being a traitor, his zeal to make these people pay for their anti-social religious beliefs that threatened the stability with Rome, perhaps[?] and who knows what other thoughts going through his mind combined with the desert heat and dehydration could have lead to him hallucinating a savior [Jesus = yhwh saves] as the answer to all his delemnas... which matched closely to the teacher of righteousness [preached upto a hundred years prior] and the coming war of the children of light and darkness.

  Paul wrote first, you should ask would anything be different if the gospels had never been written

  and like you will see that christianity is really the work of paul who hallucinted a risen christ and

  preached this far and wide and the gospels only filled in the blanks he had left.

  i think my last and only post on this board was a couple of years ago when i wasnt active at all.

  in the mean time i got better, i might not be as active as i should be, but i still try to do my best.

  actually the official word is that you should ask her to rat herself out....and if she is faithful and repentant no problem

  but if she is rebellious and unrepentant than you are to bring on the elders to keep the congregation clean
